Question by kebte: what dose mean hosting a web page and use of host web?anything about hosting a web page?

Best answer:

Answer by Brenda M
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_hosting_service . . . this is a relatively useful overview of hosting.

Basically, if one wishes to be on the web, I company (server;computer) has to “hold” or post the page or pages on a particular server so that the rest of world can go to a particular address (domain name) and view what is built as a web page or pages and hosted on a computer (server)

Be well

Question by Surabhi: About Web Domain Name Registration dispute?
I registered a domain name with some company, because of billing issue they did not get fees, They mailed about failure in charging me for thier fees. Today I called them; to request them to pay by cheque.

What they were telling is Domain name was sent to registrar and to retrieve my domain name; they told me that it is about 0. Unnessesarily I dont want or like to pay 120 dollars.

What is your suggestion.

I found the following summary on the internet.

Hope this helps.

“There is a expiration process for domain names. During the first 30 days of expiration the owner can renew the domain name at current registration prices.

After the 30 day “grace period” the name will enter a 30 day “redemption period” during this time the name may be renewed by the owner for a “service fee”

Five days after the end of the redemption period the name will made available for anyone to register. I wouldn’t wait for this to happen, people buy expired domains every day and it could be difficult to get the name.

Unfortunately you are at the mercy of your registrar in this matter. The one thing you can check is your whois record at http://www.whois.sc if it still shows your registration information you may still be in the 30 day grace period. If this is the case contact your registrar with this information and maybe they will deal a little.

As a last resort you can contact http://www.icann.org they are the governing body that monitors domain names”

Question by V. W: Questions about domain name and hosting?
How many domain name you can have in one hosting account?

What’s a good company to get domain name and hosting with?

If you have more than one domain name do you have to get different hosting account?

Thanks so much for your help.

Best answer:

Answer by mc2w
1. The amount of domain names you can have under one hosting account is completely dependant upon where you order hosting.

2. It’s usually best to order the domain name and hosting seperately. E.g. Get hosting off of bluehost, and then use namecheap to register the domain and point it to your bluehost hosting account.

3. Not usually, but like I said, it’s completely up to the hosting company to determine how many domains you can host under your hosting account.
