Question by Penelope: How do I put my e-mail address on a domain name that I just bought?
I just purchased a domain name and if someone types in that address, I would like it to have my contact info there incase they are interested in purchasing it. How can this be done?

Best answer:

Answer by Gandalf Parker
That information is probably already part of the whois record for that domain. Most people who are knowledgeable about domains would use that anyway.

But if you want it on the webpage then just go ahead and create a webpage for it. You probably got a space for that when you registered the domain. There might be a temporary parking page there now but you can change it if you want.

Question by Jsjjharp: Is there a way to have a dns server running server 2003 resolve an ip address to an external domain name?
I am running a unix based corprate program in my office that gathers data from our remote locations that is run by a 3rd party distributor. Right now the program dials out to the remote locations using a dial up modem, but the software has the ability to do it through tcp/ip on a telnet connection. The problem is, the connectio applet for data collection is propritary and i have no way to modify it and it cannot resolve domain names, only ip addresses. The DNS server that this unix box is pointed at is running server 2003 and i was wondering if it is possible to “spoof” and ip address in the DNS server so rather than having the Unix machine be responsible for resolving the name, the DNS server translates a fake local IP address to a domian name.. Example: If i type into a terminal emulator “connect to 100.100.100.10 on prot 23″ is there a way that when that request hits the DNS server it redirects the request to www.yahoo.com on port 23
Both of these answers are going in the wrong direction, i need the dns derver to resolve an address to a name not a name to an address,, i know how to do that

Yes there is a way.. if you have access to a dns server that the software uses to resolve then it would be VERY easy.. Personally.. I wouldnt do 10.10.10.10 to yahoo.com… I would to 10.10.10.10 to destination IP.

Question by Piper: How do I transfer ownership of a domain name/web address?
I have a couple .com addresses I purchased on godaddy.com a while back thinking I would do something with them and never did. I think they would be desirable to someone but I have no idea how to transfer ownership of a .com address. I was thinking I would try EBay to sell them. They aren’t hosted.

Better to go and list them for sale at Sedo.com and if the names have type-in visitors you might make some money on Sedo’s parking pages!

Question by Julia M: How to find the precise location of an IP address?
I have a large list of visitors for my website, but I find that the websites I am using to find their locations – to know who I am talking to – are often quite inaccurate. They even get my own location quite wrong.

Is there any more precise software to locate IP addresses? What’s the most precise one you know?

And yes, I have tried all the first thirty search results on Google, and I don’t need to look up a domain so Whois won’t work.

Thanks for your time!

Question by West Coast G: Can I transfer a domain to a different “owner” email address? SEE BELOW!?
I purchased a domain and used my Yahoo email account. Now, I need my web comapny to transfer it to different servers, but they have to access the domain to be able to do it. I just don’t want to give them the password to my personal email address, but I can’t find a way to transfer ownership to a different email address. Maybe someone knows how to create a separate password for the domain management? versus my personal email account?

Question is not clear.

From whom/which provider you had got a domain.
