If your domain name is not locked up – meaning that it is current as far as billing is concerned, you should be able to transfer it to another registrar. This experience will probably test your patience – just a word of warning!

You might want to seek a company that offers an end-to-end solution. For example, a provider that will allow you to register the domain name, as well as offer space on a server to host your web for a reasonable fee. They can then build the specific information in their DNS servers so your web will be available to the world.

Hope this helps!

Question by fernandez8607: how do I keep my domain name, but move to another webhosting company?
I have a website and I am not happy with the web hosting company. I know that I can keep the name, because I registered the name. What other steps do I need to take and can you suggest other companies for designing website and hosting?

If you control your name, you just need to point the dns servers where you have it registered to the new host account.

For excellent support and very reliable service, I do like ICDSoft best. There are cheaper. They are, um, cheaper.

Depends who you registered through all you gotta do is go into godaddy and change the nameservers. You can go with Just host. I use them for 40 domains and pay only 8 bucks a month.

Question by AlienG: What software does surpassdomains.com use for domain name management? Looking for another registrar using this
I have been searching for a domain name registrar and I can’t stand the user interfaces many companies offer for domain name management. Many are too cluttered and focused on trying to get more of my money. I just want to register a few domain names and manage them all in one place without having to deal with all the clutter. I have used surpassdomains.com in the past and I like their domain management interface but I need a domain reseller that offers identity protection for less than per domain. I would like to find out what software surpassdomains uses, and other domain registrars using that software. Thanks!
