Question by Grace D: update blog for search engine optimization?
What’s the least you should update your blog entrys in order to keep them fresh in Googles search engine?
Best answer:
Answer by eww
I don’t think there’s any real answer to your question. Yes, search engines like “fresh” content, but search engines don’t update their indexes every day. Every blog post has the ability of being found by SE’s, so updating / adding new posts will not guarantee Google, or any SE, will “like” your post. I know of blogs that have a new post every day that don’t rank well in Google. I know of blogs that have a new post once or twice a week and rank within the top 30.
You need to update your blog as often as you think your readers are interested in what you have to say. Just make sure to have your keywords and key phrases incorporated within your blog posts – in a manner that still reads well – and the SE’s will find the posts.

Question by Katharine Hepburn: If I purchase hosting and a domain on GoDaddy can I add it to my blog on Typepad?
I’m interested in purchasing domain and hosting…in english this does mean the url and email correct?
anyway I’m interested in purchasing them for my blog and I was wondering in what order I should purchase them, what is necessary to purchase and what is the easiest way to do so . Suggestions?

The domain name will come first, and the e-mail addresses will follow. GoDaddy provides you with 100 to set up yourself (you’ll probably never need that many). They’re pretty much just redirected to wherever you want or stored on their server, so it’s no big deal for them.
I’ll throw in a plug for HostGator, my own websites’ host (and my old computer teacher’s favorite too). It offers unlimited e-mail accounts, and unlimited other things too, like hosting space and bandwidth (something GoDaddy apparently doesn’t do). Not like I’m trying to influence you, just comparison shopping :p
