Question by justanswers: Anyone know of a webhost that will allow me to build my own website without paying in full upfront?

I am looking to build my own website and willing to pay a monthly fee, within reason, but dont want to pay for a full year up front. Does anyone know of a place that will offer a monthly fee without having to pay upfront?

And can you provide examples…

Question by Matt: After you register/buy a domain name on godaddy, how do you physically build the your site?
does godaddy provide a web builder tool, or do you have to do it all on your own or help from another program?

You will need a webhost. This can either be paid or free. If you are confident in building your website, sign up for free webhosting at 110mb.com or Freehostia.com. After that, point your domain name to your web host’s name servers.

However, if you prefer a drag and drop option online, use the free services at Weebly.com or Yola.com. They have instructions on how to point your domain name to the website you build on their service.

Godaddy is a good place to register domain names but many people have some problems with their web hosting services.

yola.com is a free service. Free services offer a sub-domain, not a real domain name. This means your site address will be something like http://yoursite.freewebs.com, not www.yoursite.com. This way your website doesn’t look professional. On the other hand, there are some limitations with free web hosting services. In a word, if you want to have a serious presence on the web, you must pay for it. I recommend get a reliable company to do that in return for a few dollars.

http://www.threehosts.com is not a web hosting service, however, this website is a reliable resource to make a good choice when choosing your needed web hosting service.

Their recommended company at http://www.threehosts.com/reviews/1st is a reliable, affordable service to register your domain name and get your website online at your purchased domain name.

Another useful link:
http://www.threehosts.com/publish
There you can find a step-by-step guide to start your website.
