Question by sniffysam: I’ve purchased a Domain name. I chose to withhold my personal details as I didn’t want everything public on..
the “Whois” registry. After I bought the Domain I double checked Whois and everything was fine.
I then reconfigured my domain settings so they were “Pointing” at my new host/sever. Now on checking on whois all my personal details are now visible? What can I do to rectify this?

Question by haadyagob: My domain name has expired but my details are still on Whois?
I paid my subscription 2 weeks after it expired and now some anonymous person is using it. My domain provider won’t answer my letters or emails. Should I just give up on this and just register a new domain name and cut my losses?
http://domains.whois.com still shows MY details as domain owner. Other WHOIS sites says someone else. Confused!

You should still be able to contact the new domain owner through their proxy.

Question by Nothing’s Forever: How do you register a .com domain without having your details on whois.net?
If you register a .com or .co.uk domain name in the UK, your details (according to internet laws) are automatically registered with whois.net. That is, the name of the person who owns the site, and their address.
How can I get around this? Because I don’t want any Tom , Dick etc, on the internet knowing that I own a particular site, and as well as my address!

You can buy domain privacy as well.
You can also find out step by step guide on how to create a website at http://oktutorial.com/webdesign.htm
You can even earn from adsense using your website.

Question by Abs: How to hide my details from WHOIS?
Hello all,
I know some hosts that allow you to hide your details such as your address from the WHOIS if you are using a co.uk domain. But for .com and others they won’t allow you to.
Is there actually a way i can hide my details from WHOIS?

You’ll have to contact the group you registered your domain with. Sometimes you can put on bogus or blank information on their website. Though if someone really likes your domain, they’re going to have no way to contact you, unless your websites has a contact.

Question by Santa Vaca, Que en el mundo?: WHOIS report, how to view all details from Linux just like on whois.net?
In Linux command line, is I type “whois domain.com” I only get back some basic information. How do I get the full report and all contact details as seen on whois.net for example? What switches do I need to use on the whois command to make it show all this information?
CentOS 5.3 x86_64 (aka ~RHEL5)
The man pages give an example that seems to output the level of detail I am wanting, minus that I didn’t see the name servers, or initial basic registration information. How would I modify the following command to work genericly for any domain I want to WHOIS?
jwhois -h whois.ripe.net — -i admin-c,tech-c,zone-c CO19-RIPE
