Question by adithya: how can i implement search engine optimization for my website ???

Best answer:

Answer by John T
firstly, you need to choose a keyword phrase that you want to be picked up by search engines. That phrase should be in your headline and text at least three times. Also, choose your keywords wisely and target your market. Have betweeen 5 and 10 keywords and make sure they are all in your text at least 3 times.

Once you have your page made, use social bookmarking to help rank it faster with the search engines and write some articles about your site and submit to article directories.

You need to generate back links to your website also by leaving comments on relative blogs or other sites.

This is the basics but will help.

Question by rawrcakkes rawrcakkes: Is there a search engine out there that filters domain names?
For example, only websites with the domain name of
.com, .net, .edu, .gov. and ect.

Best answer:

Answer by Adrienne D
Yes!

First, Google has a .gov search tool here:

http://www.google.com/unclesam

But for any domain extension, all you really have to do is use Google’s advanced search:

http://www.google.com/advanced_search

Type your keywords in the top box. Then in the bottom box (Search within a site or domain) put which domain extension you want to search within.

For example, if you type “internet marketing” in the top box and .edu in the bottom box, you get a list of .edu websites that discuss internet marketing.

Cheers!

Question by b1911: SEO – Search Engine Optimization – If a page got indexed, but you then remove the page, is there a way ….?
If a page got indexed, but you then remove the page, is there a way to remove it from the listing or do you have to wait until the Search Engine crawls the entire site again and realizes that page does not exist anymore?

Best answer:

Answer by imisidro
Google has a process that will allow you to remove pages of your website (or even your entire website) from their database. The first step is to put a “nofollow” instruction to the Googlebot in your metatag. Then you can use Google’s automatic URL removal system
http://services.google.com/urlconsole/controller

Here are Google’s instructions on how to remove a page http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35303

This is Yahoo’s instructions on how to remove a page from their database, which is similar to Google by making you put a noindex tag in your metatags first http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/deletions/deletions-03.html

Question by bobby m: my domain name and hosting is with yahoo. Why can’t their own search engine find it. This just is not right.
I believe Yahoo search should find a site that they have hosted without having to wait for weeks to have it crawled.

Best answer:

Answer by michael n
two reasons reason A) just because they host you doesnt mean you get free search results, they cost money and B) the searhc is prioritized by most prefered result, which i doubt your website is preffered by the people searching for stuff ..
