Question by Shawn: Combining first letter of words to form a domain name ?
Is this a good practice to use first letter of few words and combine them to form a domain name ? Like SAP, uses “systems, applications and products”

How good is this, will I still get traffic from users out of any search engine ?

Yeah, that’s fine, as long as you metatag it correctly.

Question by Jason: how to get a contact form to send data to server/webhost?
I have made a simple form using tables and cant seem how to get the submit button to send it to my server to store the information,. I would either like to send it to my web host or to my email. neither of which are working.

You can’t just ‘pass it to the server to store the information’ without having server-side and client-communicable scripting & programming languages installed on your computer.

a Database must store the information, as scripting languages are not databases, they will only create ’sessions’ to temporarily store information for a limited amount of time. When

That being said,

Mailto: = easiest form of communication between your visitors and you

Submitting data to the server and storing the information = advanced form of communication between you and your visitors.

Question by mat j: PHP Email Form with Godaddy Email but third party hosting?
I am trying to get a PHP Mail function to work through godaddy, but I am not sure where to direct the SMTP out. The main problem is my email is hosted through Godaddy, but my site is hosted through a local company.

I tried the relay-hostings.secureserver.net, but I found out this only works if your site is HOSTED on godaddy. Any help?

Not gonna happen. Godaddy don’t want spammers to access their stuff, so they restrict mail attempts from inside their own network.

Question by arl_balan: contact form in html calling php script in YAHOO small business hosting?
i created a html page with contact form. When guest click send button it calls another file which is a php script. It always work for me with other host. But when I used yahoo small business host, it won’t send the form.

Anyone knows how to do this in YAHOO small business host? How can i send my email contact form not created in YAHOO small business.?

Thank you.

Answer by Ron
Problem depends on where the PHP processing file is. Is it elsewhere and you didn’t put in the direct, full URL to it in the forms action attribute? Or your hosting site doesn’t allow PHP or SMTP.
