Question by Jolly: How can I remove my personal information from WHOIS if someone stole my credit card number to reg. a domain?
I noticed some shady charges on my credit card, and after much searching, found that someone used my CC number along with my real name and address to register a domain. The domain is being used to send out spam and maybe run some kind of overseas pharmacy scam.
The card has been cancelled and I have contacted the registrar in Australia to see if they can help me. Should I be doing anything else to get my name and address removed? I don’t want people to think that I am a scam artist. Now I’m so worried, I keep checking the WHOIS. When will it go away? Is there anything else I can do?
Thanks,
Sad&Worried

Question by Alfred: Can I host my own website from my computer?
I would like to host my own website. Most free website hosting sites are not what I am looking for. Therefore I am interested in hosting my own website from my extra computer. How do I go about doing so?

yes, you need a static ip, a domain name registered (www.domain.com) and a web server software package.
Look into either IIS (microsoft) or Apachee (which is free)

Question by kremliin2k: I need to transfer a domain from yahoo to a godaddy dedicated server. How do I do this?
Do I just transfer the domain to godaddy and they can assign it to my dedicated server IP address, or how does it work? Thanks.

Answer by Matt
You need to initiate the transfer of that domain name from Godaddy.
They will start the process (you have to follow a couple of steps), charge you the domain name transfer and that’s it. The domain name will be transferred to your Godaddy account, and one year will be added to it’s registration.

Question by Emeka N: How to Hide my info from the whois database when registering a domain name?
I have a domain name but I want it completly anonymous. Is there any domain companies that protect you the best or allows you to put whatever DNS, Hosting and Register info you want there? Nothing like Godaddy’s Domain by Proxy alternative. Read there Terms & Condition. They will release your info if forced too.
Someone told me outside the US has solutions but want to know someone that has use there

1. You dont have to enter real information in the DNS if you dont want to.
2. All US host will have to give up your DNS info and/or contact info if subpoenaed.
3. Most host offer private records, example network solutions, interNIC.
4. Read #1 , you never have to put real DNS info, but it is wise to enter real contact info to your hose but not in the DNS record.
5. I would not seek hosting outside of the US due to issues with intellectual property rights. If someone rips off your website, there would be nothing you could do.
