Check out seekdotnet.com, I believe they offer hosting at a reasonable rate and I had good luck with them so far.

Question by Travis F: Where can I find the cheapest web hosting and domain name combination?

Best answer:

Answer by IronRhino
I would be careful going with the cheapest company around. Make sure that the domain name is registered in your name and not the company that will be hosting the website for you. I would also look for any reviews available for the company. Some companies allow people to pay for hosting and then resell the hosting services. This could be fine, but if your website is how you make a living, and the reseller goes out of business, your site could go with them, and you would need to find another company to host your site.

There are a few specific, large companies that offer good pricing for domains and hosting and I don’t see them going out of business. Personally, I use one that starts with a Yah and ends with oo. Their prices might not be the cheapest you can find, but I don’t see them going out of business anytime soon, so I know my site will be safe with them.

Question by bobby m: my domain name and hosting is with yahoo. Why can’t their own search engine find it. This just is not right.
I believe Yahoo search should find a site that they have hosted without having to wait for weeks to have it crawled.

two reasons reason A) just because they host you doesnt mean you get free search results, they cost money and B) the searhc is prioritized by most prefered result, which i doubt your website is preffered by the people searching for stuff ..

Question by jade_pisces: Do i have to pay hosting with a domain?
I want to purchase some domain names and resale them. Anyone done this before and what are the chances someone will want to buy my names? Also can i just get the domain name and not have hosting since i dont plan on building the site? (Anyone have mroe info relating to this, let me know)
Yes, the better the name the better chances for it being resold but is thsi business active or it rarely happens?

Yeah you can just buy a domain name without a hosting plan. It will just display a standard ‘this domain is already in use’ page after you buy it. You can easily re-sell it if somebody is willing to pay you.
