Question by Jeff S: I have a hosting package and a domain name, how do I get my website up?
I purchased a web hosting package and a domain name from networksolutions.com. What do I have to do to make it so that when you go to www.thompsonscountrymarket.com (my domain name), the website appears. I uploaded the files using the FTP program, but I don’t understand what else I have to do to make it appear. Please help!

If you uploaded the files to the correct folder, with the correct structure, then you need to do nothing else. Sometimes some providers have the FTP physically separate from the actual web server, and it takes a while before it is synched. Give it a few minutes.

Additionally: If you just bought the domain name, it takes a few hours (usually around 24-48hrs) for all the routers to update their routing tables and recognize your web address. This will only happen once every time you change the IP of the server behind your domain (i.e. change providers, for example)

EDIT: I just opened www.thompsonscountrymarket.com, and it’s working.

I made a mistake and ordered the domain when i need the web hosting package. If I upgrade to the web hosting do I have to pay again or just he difference.

I know most sites offer a number of megabytes of storage, but you are still unable to add video.

I am looking to get a domain name and web hosting for the site i built. It is for my PC repair business. Its a small business so i don’t need anything extravagant or anything that will not be worth the cost. I check out go daddy for the domain and they seemed reasonable but the web hosting was pretty expensive. Any suggestions?
