Question by sniffysam: I’ve purchased a Domain name. I chose to withhold my personal details as I didn’t want everything public on..
the “Whois” registry. After I bought the Domain I double checked Whois and everything was fine.
I then reconfigured my domain settings so they were “Pointing” at my new host/sever. Now on checking on whois all my personal details are now visible? What can I do to rectify this?

Question by Positive Vibes: How do you hide your personal information on websites such as whois.net?
How can you do this, I find this very dangerous & pretty much out of order that your personal information (such as your address) can be accessed this easily.

What if your a celebrity & you own your domain name?

How can you make this private please?

Thanks

Hmmm. i think it’s pretty bad that.

You have companys & governments forever saying keep your personal information guarded & then you get domain names doing this.

Question by rhattie: Can I use a domain name with a standard isp with personal web space?

Best answer:

Answer by Dansgalaxy
It depends on the ISP, some may allow you to use a domain with their (often very small) hosting the offer free (usually with your internet account).

Check your ISPs documentation about the web space they offer and it should have some kind of detaisl about using your own domain.

However i would suggest using a “proper” web host, as with many you can get a very reasonable deal, for as little as £2/month you have a good amount of space and features, and a much better control panel interface to use with your website account.

It also means you have a dedicated support team to help and guide you with your site and hosting – your ISP will most defiantly not provide this level of support.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by nangtien: How to find a good ISP who can offer free space for personal web pages?
I want to make my web pages available to others on my network or post them on the WWW but I don’t know any ISP (internet service provider) can allocate space for subscribers free of charge.

Comcast does.

Yahoo does, and you don’t have to have them as your ISP. Go to http://geocities.yahoo.com/gcp/ And you can set up your own page.

Question by Tracey: This question is for anyone who has verizon personal web space?
I am making a web site for online shopping. Just where is it that you need to put in the “Code” from the sites that I am linking to . Will I also be able to put on my site the banners and blocks with the link to the web site? I just cant figure it out. I can get it on there but it is basically like just putting the address in. Not actually connected to my link. Anyone know how to help me?

Best answer:

Answer by Rawlyn
It matters not that you are on verizon – the system is the same no matter who supplies the web space.

The language you need to write webpages is called HTML. There are lots of beginners tutorials out there with far more information than can be offered in this small space.

Have fun!
