If say I register my domain name at godaddy.com , but I want to use free webhosting at atspace.com with that domain name. How does that work?

Yes!
You need to get the DNS addresses (1 and 2) from atspace and input them under domain forwarding at Godaddy.com.
If you already have an address (URL) at atspace, you can also just forward the domain to that and use ‘masking’.
It becomes active in anywhere from 2 hours to 48 hours.

I would think that you would do it just like with any website.
Choose the adsense style, colour and size of your ads, copy the html code then go to your site through your server’s cpanel and open the site for editing and insert/paste the code where you want it.
