Question by jeff_cougsfan: If i buy a domain name from godaddy without a web hosting plan, then what?
I just want to know what would happen if i bought a certain domain name from godaddy.com without choosing one of their web hosting plans. I want to do this to save money but will it still work? Can I host it from my home computer with a basic internet connection? are there any safety concerns associated with this?

Your better off using a server farm. Meaning maybe use the services of GoDaddy for the hosting. Usually you get 1 or 2 free domains with a hosting plan. They are pretty cheap if it is a linux hosting plan. A windows hosting plan would be a little more.
Basically, about 6$ a month if your just doing a basic site with out all the bells and whistles (secure server/shopping cart).

1999 Rs/mo. oh, no!!….. for PREMIUM.

I suggest you to Analise how about your website is?

1)

What type of your website. Community based? likes http://www.writingforums.com. You website like this or not? or only standard website and having phpBB as your board with 4-5 group of discussion.

If no need much, standard plan is enough I think. 10GB data transfer per month is OK. Fine!

10 boxes of mySQL database in 250MB is ok. You must adjust and take care your data every week. I don’t like to use mysql-based forums because if one day mysql is dead, no activitiy happens on my website but phpBB is so comfortably used.

2)

Where is your visitors live? from your country or including from outside. Where is your server placed. if “outside”, go outside by yourself better I suggest; you may get cheaper. I had ever hosted with web hosting company in USA. It’s ok, cheaper.

Are you ok to find more choices. See more and you’ll have more information to make decision.

any suggestion please….

Question by Jun Silva: How to consolidate my domain name with my other web hosting plan from yahoo small business server?
I want to add my existing domain to my web hosting plan in yahoo small business server.

Best answer:

Answer by Phil
You can sign up for Yahoo! Web Hosting plan using a domain you already own, and then redelegate the nameservers from your existing registrar. Also, eventually, since Yahoo! allows you to transfer your domain to them as part of the hosting service, you can do that when you’re ready.
