Well GoDaddy.com is good and close to that price range. I would like to recommend my friends site: http://www.TemeculaValleyDomains.net He has prices in that range, you can pay with PayPal, not problems at all with transfers, and they have a phone number where you can talk to a real person. I know this is a shameless plug, but I know this guy and his service is good.
I use and have no problems with:
Name Secure
Go Daddy
Temecula Valley Domain Registrar
Register dot com

Question by caligrl: How do I purchase a domain name without paying extra to keep my info private?
On Godaddy I am going through checkout but it costs .99/year in addition to the yearly domain name purchase, for my personal contact information not to be listed on whois. Is there a way around this, to have my info private without paying for it?

No, unfortunately there is no way around it. It’s like with the phone company, you pay them to keep your information private.

.IN domains at Name.com are not eligible for privacy. This is because the registry doesnt allow privacy. You can try other registrars like http://www.SuperM.com , http://www.EuroDns.com which offer free privacy with .IN domains

Maybe he gets that porn email spam or he is doing something illegal. It’s probably porn though. That’s just how men are.

Best answer:

The cheapest registrars include their own name in your web site’s, like http://www.mysite.theirsite.com
You can find tons of them in a Google search.
They include Yola.com and Spruz.com, which have free web hosting as well.
