Question by know_it_all23: How can I start my own real website with a domain name, when I don’t know anything about web hosting?
Can anyone give me a little know-how about starting up a website? Perhaps some step-by-step about how to go from knowing nothing about this, to running a website? I think alot of people would benefit from this information besides just myself. I need to know some of the steps that I need to take to register a domain name, and how to host it. Some of the terms I’ve heard associated with this were MySQL and cPanel (I think). Does anyone know what these terms mean? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot!

Question by trance4pants: I have a personal address and want to transfer my domain to a real webhost. How the heck do I do it?
Yahoo help is pointless, and for some reason, the admin@mydomain is not registered to any address… I have my webhost ready to go, but there is nothing on yahoo about transferring domains when using the personal address. This is getting really frustrating.

I’m not trying to point the domain somewhere, I’m trying to get it registered with another webhost..

You need to “point” your domain to the new host. Its simple, I’ve done it many times. Go to your account where you registered the domain or where its hoted now on-line or by phone or e-mail. Log-In and set your hosting to the new server…

Go thru known friends in comp scie or website knowledged persons. I did and I am fine. see my site sunflowerdance.com
its now 5 yrs over. i pay 40 $ per year and I have 20 MB.
Those who promise to give more space may cheat too or their server may be too slow. my server is fast. it comes in a jerk!
about domainnames, be careful to do it thru good trusted sites such as yahoo, etc.
i am still sceptic about catching domain with good names
and footing the expenditure every year to keep it my own.
When we have wonderful site name booked in our name, whether we can sell it and earn , is doubtful. because it depends on our rights with the server space owner and the agreements which they never get from us or show us.
SOME ONE HAVING BOOKED DOMAIN NAMES AND SOLD AND EARNED MONEY CAN HELP US ALL , PLS.

You will have to get backlinks for your website to rank higher. Submit your website to Directories.

Site is great….basic plan free domain with sign up(up to 2 domains hosted)….other plans same site you can get 3(up to 8 domainshosted) and 5(up to 16 domains hosted) domains free….i like it!
