Question by anderson.grad: I am looking for an Offshore Search Engine Optimization company. Can you recommend anyone?

Answer by memetrader
I would never refer anyone to a company for Offshore SEO services!

Why not? Well to be frank there are literally tens of thousands of SEO Companies and Consultants but how many do a good job? Very, very few is the answer.

SEO is an unregulated and relatively new industry in considerable demand, so it is not so surprising that an army of scammers and wannabes has charged in to make some cash.

Here is the procedure I recommend.

Start by looking here http://www.seoconsultants.com/ which is about the nearest you can get to peer reviewed SEO consultants directory. Draw up a list of (say 10) companies whose web presence and spectrum of services meet with your approval.

Then make a simple initial approach to these companies and reduce the 10 to a short list of 3 or 4 based on the quality of their response (as you see it) and their understanding of your requirements.

Now interview the companies on your shortlist and include the following questions and requests:

1. Ask for 5+ references and current clients and make sure you follow them all up taking notes along the way.

2. What type of reporting will they provide?

3. Do they offer Return On Investment (ROI) analysis?

4. Can they assure you that the optimization strategies and methods used will be ethical and hence guarantee no penalties for your website?

5. Do they place a link on their clients sites to their site? If they do you can reject them right away.

6. Ask to see a sample contract. Check that it says ‘what is’ and ‘what isn’t’ required on the clients part and also details what they say they will do.

7. How many hours will they put into working on your site?

8. Make sure you will not be ‘ransomed’ if you decide not to use them any more at some stage.

9. Do they outsource any of the work? If they do you can reject them right away.

10. What results can you expect and over what time scales?

Once you have the answers to these questions for the companies on your short list you will find making a correct choice quite straightforward.

One last thing. The best SEOs in the world work for themselves because they make more money that way and those that choose to have clients do not come cheap.

Question by Rohan S: Which one would you recommend as a reliable free web space provider?
How much space do they provide? Any other details? Thanks.

Do you mean web page provider or internet service provider? They are not the same. Web page hosting off a server is often free as part of a package deal, but not standalone. Internet service has different options and speeds… there is dial-up, DSL, cable, broadband, etc. Prices range all over the map from free limited service to 0.00 per month package deals.

If you live in USA, sign up for NetZero internet service provider (ISP). You can get 10 hours free per month, but you have to have a landline phone first. Doing so will get you an email address with their company, but no webhosting. They’re unlimited hour service is only .95 a month. They have DSL high-speed connection which costs more but that is not available in all areas.

There are different companies that offer free ISP service in Canada and UK, but I cannot direct you to that information. Go to the mega-search engine called Dogpile.com and search on free internet for your general location.

Question by gabrielomex: Could you recommend a software that help you with search engine optimization?

Best answer:

Answer by D_Ant
I recommend “Copernic Agent Basic”. If you are serious you can purchase the full version. Copernic uses multiple search engines to pull the best results from each engine. The basic/freeware version searches I think ten different search engines, while the full version allows you to add different search engines. Plus it allows you to save your searches for future reference. I have included the link to Copernic’s web site for a complete comparison.
