Question by Survivor: When you register a domain name with a registrar what are the URL settings used for?
How and when should these settings be used?

Best answer:

Answer by Colinc
It is not much use having a domain name unless you have a web site. It is no good having a web site if nobody can find it. The url settings are to tell the registrars DNS servers where your web site is hosted. It will also need to know where your mail servers are.

Question by georgiagal81223: In your experiences, what do you believe to be the best domain name registrar & best web hosting site?
I have reviewed several “top 10″, “top 25″ & “best of” sites regarding both of these and find that there is some similarity in favorite sites for the domain name registrat and web hosting site….but i have also found that many prefer to register their domain name with one site and pick up the hosting and design from another? So, I am trying to find a definitive answer as to which service provider sites are the best for both, and should i use the same or different sites for completing the multiple tasks in trying to register my site and get it up and running asap????

Question by AlienG: What software does surpassdomains.com use for domain name management? Looking for another registrar using this
I have been searching for a domain name registrar and I can’t stand the user interfaces many companies offer for domain name management. Many are too cluttered and focused on trying to get more of my money. I just want to register a few domain names and manage them all in one place without having to deal with all the clutter. I have used surpassdomains.com in the past and I like their domain management interface but I need a domain reseller that offers identity protection for less than per domain. I would like to find out what software surpassdomains uses, and other domain registrars using that software. Thanks!
