If a page got indexed, but you then remove the page, is there a way to remove it from the listing or do you have to wait until the Search Engine crawls the entire site again and realizes that page does not exist anymore?

Google has a process that will allow you to remove pages of your website (or even your entire website) from their database. The first step is to put a “nofollow” instruction to the Googlebot in your metatag. Then you can use Google’s automatic URL removal system
http://services.google.com/urlconsole/controller
Here are Google’s instructions on how to remove a page http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35303
This is Yahoo’s instructions on how to remove a page from their database, which is similar to Google by making you put a noindex tag in your metatags first http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/deletions/deletions-03.html

Question by John Timberlake: How do you remove an old Domain URL from search results?
I have a client that changed the company name several years ago, but the old domain name still appears when various searches are conducted. I want to completely remove this listing.
Any help will be appreciated.

If the company still has access to the old domain, you can set up Google’s webmaster tools. Once it is set up you can remove pages that Google has indexed for the site. http://www.google.com/webmasters/
Best of luck,
Eric

Question by arniepie2003: How can I remove personal information for a website I no longer own from the Whois database?
Last year I purchased a domain address and my personal information (name, address and phone number) was stored on the Whois database, as I believe it is for alot of web domain registrations. My one year ownership of this web address has since expired however my personal information is still listed on the Whois database. How can I have this information removed?

Most registrars don’t immediately delete expired domains; they keep the domain alive for a while while they either wait for you to re-register it or see if someone else will come along and buy it (see afternic.com for details).
Given enough time, if your domain expires properly, so will your contact information.
That said, the damage has been done; your info is in many ways forever tied to this domain name, even if someone else registers it.
Or, if what you are saying is your contact information is being used by someone else who re-registered / renewed the registration, ICANN requires domain owners to provide legitimate contacts. Simply contact the registrar (and, if they don’t help, file an ICANN complaint) protesting that you are no longer an appropriate contact for the domain.

Question by Delila D: How do I remove a Wix connected site from my Godaddy domain hosting?
Please help! I am not very technologically savvy. I followed the directions of uploading a Wix-built website on my Godaddy account (altering things in the Total DNS) and now I can’t seem to revert to my original Godaddy settings: that is, I can’t seem to unlink my Wix page. Does anyone know how I’d go about doing this?
