Answer by Colinc
You don’t. You register the name with a recognised registrar. You then set up the registrar’s A, CNAME, PTR and MX records to point to the appropriate places for your servers.

Question by Sajit: I am looking for an inexpensive web hosting firm with wordpress install option?
I am looking for an inexpensive web hosting firm with wordpress click and install option. I went through some web hosting review sites like “web hosting top dot com”, http://www.top-webhosting-services.com, web hosting geeks etc. but I am unable to decide so far. I am specifically looking at one click Wordpress install option. I had read somewhere about some web hosting firm providing this service but unable to recall now. I presently have a web hosting account but it does not have the “click and install” wordpress installation option. Any guidance to install wordpress manually on a linux web hosting will also be appreciated.

Question by Alofa Malii: How do I Upload themes to my custom domain name by wordpress?
So i created a domain name through wordpress, but i can’t upload my own theme by Expression Web 2. I know i could use the upgrade for css, but is there an alternative?

Best answer:

Answer by Tony
You can add themes to wordpress manually or from your wordpress admin control panel.

Via the control panel:
1. Log into your WordPress site
2. Select “Appearance” – “Add New Themes”
3. Set the search dropdown to “Term”
4. Enter the theme you want in the box provided
5. Select “Search”
6. When you find the theme you want, select “Install”

The theme should install and be available for activation under “Appearance” – “Themes” once it is done downloading.

Manual Install:
1. Download the theme you want
2. Extract your theme
3. Upload the theme to your wp-content/themes directory

Once uploaded, you should see the theme under “Appearance” – “Themes” in your WordPress control panel.

If a theme doesn’t display:
You probably uploaded the wrong folder. The theme folder is the one with a style.css file in it. Occasionally, theme creators package their themes strangely. Just find the folder with style.css in it and upload that folder to /wp-content/themes on your server.
